Unidentified Man Missing – According to RCMP, the body of a 47-year-old Calgary man who went missing at Chestermere Lake on Monday was recovered.
In a news release, Police said “At 8:41 p. m, Chestermere RCMP, with the help of the Central Alberta Rescue Driving Society, recovered the body of the missing person in Chestermere Lake” The body will be taken to the medical examiner’s office, the family has been contacted, they added.
Though the cause of death, as of Tuesday was not confirmed, the police said the man went missing and could possibly be drowning. It was gathered that the Mounties were called to the lake’s Anniversary Beach at around 3 p.m. on Monday for reports of a possible drowning after two men on a paddleboard appeared to fall into the water. RCMP said nearby swimmers were able to rescue one of the men but unfortunately the other did not resurface after going underneath the water.
According to Staff Sgt. Mark Wielgosz said “It was fortunate that those at the beach were observant to notice the two men were in trouble” And while the search for the other man was in progress, paramedics took the survivor, a 24-year-old man, to the hospital as a precaution.
The identity of the men has not been released but RCMP said the two men are not related and both of them were not wearing lifejackets. “It’s a very stressful time for the family” Sgt Mark added.
